PHILOSOPHICAL COUNSELLING

A rational and analytical approach to helping you work through personal issues & mental blocks

Luke is a philosophical counsellor whose practice is characterised by a rational, analytical, direct, and goal-oriented orientation. He employs philosophical questioning and method to help clients critically examine major life decisions, interpersonal conflict across personal and professional domains, sustained forms of pressure, and the reconfiguration of meaning and worldview. Central to his work is the identification of irrational or unhelpful beliefs that underlie personal difficulties, and their replacement with more coherent, constructive, and rational alternatives.

His work is grounded in a logic-based methodology informed by Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy (REBT), which holds that emotions are shaped not only by what happens to us, but by the meanings and beliefs we attach to these events; we often suffer more in imagination than reality. In sessions, these beliefs are identified, challenged, tested through structured disputation, and revised into more rational, workable perspectives, thereby strengthening emotional regulation, improving decision-making, and translating insight into clear, practical next steps.

Ideal clients are those who want to logically and philosophically examine and challenge their beliefs and assumptions which shape their thinking, emotional responses, and actions, rather than focus solely on feelings. They are drawn to a rational, direct, philosophical, and analytical style of work that clarifies values, identifies unhelpful patterns of thinking, tests them for coherence and practical consequences, and replaces them with more constructive alternatives; those who are willing to revise entrenched beliefs in order to think and act with greater clarity, stability, and effectiveness.
